HOUSTON – University of Houston Football wide receiver Amare Thomas earned a spot on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List on Monday following his third 100-yard receiving game in the Cougars 30-27 win over UCF on Friday night. The Biletnikoff Award is given to the best pass catcher in college football and is awarded by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The Birmingham, Ala., native leads the Cougars with a career-best single-season high 737 receiving yards. The 737 receiving yards ranks third in the Big 12 Conference and 18th nationally.
A quick pass and depth route threat, Thomas hauled in his third touchdown catch of 50+ yards with his 64-yard touchdown reception at UCF. The 64-yard reception pushed Thomas passed 100 yards for the game in the first half and was Thomas’ first-career 100-yard receiving game with a touchdown reception.
Thomas’s 16.4 yards per catch is 16th in the Big 12 while his 99.9 depth pass receiving grade leads the nation.
The junior has set a career-best with 737 receiving yards and tied his career-best with eight receiving touchdowns while setting single-game highs with a three touchdown game against West Virginia and receiving yards in a game with 157 at Oklahoma State.
