Police said the victim was lying next to her vehicle and bleeding from the head, prompting the response of paramedics, who later pronounced the woman dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
“Based on the unexplained injuries, the death was determined to be suspicious, and the homicide unit was notified,” police said.
“We’re not used to having any situations like this happening here. It’s pretty safe,” said Margarita Krafton, a woman who frequents the recreation center.
Joseph Meister is a neighbor who was unsettled by the incident and worries about his family’s safety.
“I have a wife and daughter. If that is the case and there was a homicide, then yeah, we’re going to have to tighten up our home security. Look into checking the cameras or getting more installed,” Meister said.
Anyone with information regarding the suspicious death was urged to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stopper at 888-580-8477.
