Ann Frances McFeatters

OBITUARY

Ann Frances McFeatters passed away on June 21, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 80.

Born on July 6, 1944, Ann was a lifelong learner with a wide-ranging intellect and deep curiosity about the world. She graduated from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, and began her professional life in journalism. Over the years, she cultivated a remarkable knowledge of many subjects, especially Eastern religions and philosophies, and could speak thoughtfully and insightfully on nearly any topic.

Ann’s life was not without challenges, but she remained deeply connected to her family and friends. She shared a lasting bond with her sister, Jane, who supported her with great care and constancy. Ann cherished her view of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan, found comfort in her beloved cats, and delighted in lively phone conversations that often lasted for hours. She was devoted to civil rights and felt strongly about uplifting the most vulnerable in our communities. With friends and family, she often remembered birthdays and took care to send flowers, small gestures that reflected her thoughtfulness and enduring affection for those she loved.

Ann is survived by her sister, Jane McFeatters Haugh, and brother-in-law, James Haugh; her nieces, Betsy Haugh Berman, Suzy Haugh Persons, Ellen Haugh Rose; her nephew, Patrick Haugh; and nine grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also remembered with affection by loving caretakers as well as several decades-long friends who shared her humor, intelligence, and generous spirit.

A private service was held to honor Ann’s life and the lasting love and care she gave and received.
