Construction is expected to start Aug. 1 on a planned multimillion dollar sports complex in Keller that will help transform city athletic facilities.

The $17 million City Sports athletic facility is intended to complement $40 million in renovations to the Keller Sports Park near the Alliance area of north Fort Worth. About 70% of renovations are complete, city officials said.

The sports complex — a one-story manufactured building that will be built on 8 acres at 401 Golden Triangle Blvd. — will be located at the northwest corner of the Keller Sports Park.

ME Development LLC, a Dallas-area company, plans to complete construction by Nov. 1, 2026, according to a state filing.

The building will include four indoor courts, two outdoor courts and three turf fields for basketball, volleyball, cheer activities and futsal, a type of soccer that is played indoors on a smaller court.

Materials to be used include masonry, metal, glass and wood on each elevation with a vinyl rainscreen/windblock on the east side.

The filing said the development will include an open air pavilion with turf fields and concession stands.

About 52 acres of the 192-acre sports park is currently undeveloped, Keller officials said.

Keller City Manager Aaron Rector has said the sports complex will aid in economic growth as the city sports park is upgraded.

“The project will expand our sports offerings, provide new tournament opportunities, and help support area restaurants and retailers, particularly in Old Town Keller,” Rector previously told the Fort Worth Report.

Keller council members approved the terms of a ground lease for City Sports in October 2023 and an incentive agreement in May 2024. A site plan with zoning variances to allow commercial uses at City Sports was approved in February 2025.

Meanwhile, city officials said renovations are nearing completion at the Keller Sports Park.

New parking lots are complete and final work on Soccer Parkway is expected to wrap up soon, the city said in a late June Facebook post. Synthetic turf has been installed on baseball fields, and a new equestrian-area restroom and storage building are expected to open in mid-to-late July.

A new equestrian-area press box has passed inspection and is ready to use.

“Landscaping is going in around the equestrian area and new baseball fields, and new backstops are being installed on both the baseball and softball fields,” the city Facebook post said.

Keller officials plan to demolish the existing baseball fourplex to “continue transforming the park for future generations of Keller athletes and families,” the city said.
