Carlos Alcaraz looks unstoppable at the moment, and is on a 20-match winning streak that dates back to the beginning of the Italian Open in May.

The defending Wimbledon champion is in pursuit of becoming the fifth man in the Open Era to three-peat at the All England Club.

Alcaraz was taken to five sets by Fabio Fognini in his first-round matchup, but enjoyed a straight-sets victory over British qualifier Oliver Tarvet in round two.

With multiple seeded players crashing out of the tournament in the early stages, the 22-year-old may find his route to a third consecutive final to be easier than he had initially thought.

Should he reach the championship match once again, Rafael Nadal‘s former coach, Toni Nadal, thinks there are only two people who can stop him.

In an article he wrote for Spanish newspaper El Pais, Nadal said: “I sincerely believe that, under normal conditions, very few opponents have the ability to worry Carlos.

Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are the only players who could possibly worry him – in that order.

“It’s true that – on the grass – the surprise element comes into play more,” said the Spaniard.

“But considering the draw that he is facing and the fact that the surface is less ruined in the early days and the rallies are very fast, I don’t see anyone who can seriously challenge him.”

Alcaraz has a winning record against Sinner, having beaten him eight times in the 12 clashes they have had together.

At Grand Slams, the Spaniard is 3-1 against the Italian, with the world number one’s sole victory coming at Wimbledon in 2022.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head record against Alcaraz 5-3, and won their most recent match at the Australian Open this year.

The five-time Grand Slam champion has defeated the Serb in the last two Wimbledon finals, and may have to do so again at this season’s edition of the championships.
