The Los Angeles Lakers will have an early yardstick-type game on Wednesday when they continue their five-game road trip against the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder. They have gotten out to an 8-3 record, and they have won six of their last seven games despite being short-handed.

Austin Reaves returned from a three-game absence on Monday when the Lakers defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 121-111. Gabe Vincent has been out for the last couple of weeks, while LeBron James and rookie forward Adou Thiero have yet to make their 2025-26 season debuts.

But neither Vincent, James nor Thiero is ready to play yet. All three are listed as out for Wednesday’s game.

James is set to practice with the Lakers’ G League affiliate in the coming days, while coach JJ Redick said he hopes Thiero will make his debut during the team’s current road trip, which ends on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Meanwhile, Khobi Price of the Southern California News Group reported this week that Vincent is progressing and is doing some work with assistant coach Lindsey Harding.
