Week 10 kicks off on Thursday Night Football with the New York Jets and New England Patriots as these AFC East rivals are coming off big wins last week, but with their seasons headed in two very different. The Patriots are winners of eight consecutive games and looking like the team to beat in the AFC. Meanwhile, the Jets have won their first two games of the season in back-to-back weeks.

Just halfway through the season, and the Jets (2-7) are looking to play the role of spoiler against a red-hot Patriots team. Last week wasn’t a pretty win, but with two big special teams touchdowns, New York was able to outscore Cleveland 27-20. If they hope to get a win against the Patriots, the Jets will need much more out of quarterback Justin Fields, as he had just 54 yards passing in Week 10.

Through 10 games, New England (8-2) has emerged as one of the best teams in the league during this seven-game winning streak. In Week 10, they went on the road to beat Tampa Bay behind a 147-yard rushing, two-touchdown breakout performance from rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson. Drake Maye continued to play with poise, adding 270 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Justin Fields got smothered by the Patriots defense, getting sacked by Christian Barmore for a nine-yard loss.

Barmore nearly gets him again shortly afterward, but Fields is able to scramble and pick up the first down.

Pats settle for a field goal despite a golden opportunity deep in the Jets’ territory. After a short rushing gain, Drake Maye’s two pass attempts fall flat, keeping this at a two-score game.

A low snap leads Fields to fumble the ball, and he can’t get it back between the legs of his offensive line before the Patriots pounce on it. A disastrous play for the Jets, with less than seven minutes left in the game.

Drake Maye throws a long dagger to Mack Hollins on third-and-15, but the ball slips through Hollins’ arms as the Jets pick up a crucial defensive stop.

Jets convert one third down, but fail on third-and-12, and are forced to punt on a key drive. New York’s uphill climb towards victory is looking steeper by the minute.

The Patriots were in the red zone, but a Jermaine Johnson sack forces them to settle for a field goal. Still, it’s a two-score lead with 12:06 remaining.

And that’s it for the third quarter. The Patriots are in Jets territory and have a chance to make an improbable comeback very, very difficult.

A holding penalty gives the Patriots 1st-and-20, but Drake Maye keeps his big night going with a pair of passes to Hunter Henry and Deario Douglas for first down.

That’s a big response from the Jets, who march 65 yards on nine plays and cap it off with a 22-yard pass to John Metchie after safety Craig Woodson falls down.

That’s a hat trick for TreVeyon Henderson, who gets wide open in the end zone on a coverage open and brings in the pass from Drake Maye. That’s Henderson’s third TD tonight and fifth in his last two games.

Big passes to Mack Hollins and Stefon Diggs have the Patriots in the red zone after four plays. Drake Maye is looking MVP-y right now.

An intentional grounding penalty on Justin Fields kills the Jets’ drive at midfield after some nice gains. And then an unnecessary roughness penalty on offensive lineman Joe Tippman after third down. Not what we would call the best start.

The Jets defense gets a much-needed stop to open the third quarter, as the Patriots go 3-and-out. They might have had a 4th-and-short, but a review turned a six-yard pass to Stefon Diggs into an incompletion.

The second half is underway, with the Patriots getting the ball back and starting from their own 35 yard line.

Andres Borregales misses from 45 yards out to end the second quarter and the Patriots will take only a seven-point lead into the locker room. The Jets looked great on the first drive of the game, then like the Jets for the rest of the half.
