Toronto police are searching for a man who is accused of abducting his son and bringing him to Ethiopia without the permission of the child’s mother.

In a release, police allege that Modupe Owaseye, 34, of Toronto, travelled with his two-year-old son, Emmanuel, to Ethiopia on Thursday.

They say Owaseye left Canada without the consent of Emmanuel’s mother.

Owaseye is described by police as five-foot-seven and 150 pounds, with short brown hair and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a grey sweater and black pants.

Emmanuel is described as two feet tall and was wearing a black hat, green sweater with white teddy bears, beige pants, and black running shoes.

Owaseye is wanted for abduction of a person under 16.

“We are actively taking all the necessary investigative steps to locate both the victim and suspect,” Toronto police said in an email to CTV News Toronto.
