PHOENIX — Thanksgiving is still two weeks away, but Valley drivers will have something to be thankful for this weekend as all of the area’s freeways are scheduled to be open.
However, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced that two freeway ramps will shut down over the weekend in its Weekend Freeway Traffic Advisory for Nov. 14-17.
ADOT added that the schedule for the closures is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
🎉 No mainline freeway closures are scheduled in the Phoenix area this weekend (Nov. 14-17)!!! 🎉
And, just ONE ramp closure: Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Fwy) to southbound State Route 51 from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17.

Freeway-to-freeway ramp to see weekend closure in north Phoenix
The ramp from the eastbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway to southbound State Route 51 in north Phoenix is scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
ADOT advises drivers to go south on either Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard until they reach Union Hills Drive, which connects to SR 51.
The detour is for an ongoing interchange widening project. This weekend’s work will also require a closure of the southbound Black Mountain Boulevard ramp to southbound SR 51.
Other weekend closures to note
While no freeways are expected to close over the weekend, there will be a bevy of street closures in Tempe beginning Friday night due to Arizona State University’s homecoming festivities and the final running of the Ironman Arizona triathlon.
Additionally, this weekend’s events will also cause disruptions for the public transportation system in Tempe. Details about the bus route and Tempe Streetcar service changes can be found here for ASU homecoming and here for the triathlon.
