KERRVILLE, Texas – Much-needed rain swept through Kerrville overnight, offering relief to the area’s dry conditions.

However, the storms brought with them severe weather and flooding, threatening to disrupt many of today’s scheduled Independence Day celebrations.

A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY has been issued along the Guadalupe River from Hunt to Kerrville down to Center Point.

City officials are urging residents to use extreme caution while traveling, particularly around low water crossings. Several roads are currently impassable due to high water, and additional closures may occur as conditions evolve.

Emergency personnel from the Kerrville Police Department and Fire Department are actively assessing the situation and responding to any emergency needs throughout the area.

One of the most significant impacts is at Louise Hays Park, the planned site of today’s Fourth on the River festivities. The park is currently flooded, putting the future of the event in question. Updates from city officials are expected later in the day.

As of this morning, the following roads are closed due to flooding:

  • Arcadia Loop
  • Most of Thompson Drive
  • Guadalupe Street
  • Rio Robles
  • Riverside Drive

Residents are asked to monitor official city updates, avoid flood-prone areas, and never attempt to drive through high water.
