1 Major League Baseball — Hats off to Major League Baseball for giving fans such joy in this year’s World Series — a thrilling reminder of why we love the game. Two outstanding teams, our friendly neighbors to the north, the Toronto Blue Jays, and our own Los Angeles Dodgers, battled to the very end in true championship spirit.

It was especially moving to see that the legendary Sandy Koufax, now 89, was there to watch all 18 innings in Game 3. His presence bridged baseball’s storied past with its exciting present.

It was such a thrill to be able to watch Game 7 together with my wife and escape the world’s troubles, if only for a few hours, and get lost in the timeless rhythm of baseball.

Thank you, baseball, for hitting it out of the park.

2 Car Talk — I can’t start out my Saturday morning without a fun read of Ray Magliozzi’s humorous advice to those with car troubles. I usually laugh throughout the column. His humor gets to me every time.

I’m an older lady who has been driving for many years, and I’ve never even looked under the hood of my many cars. That’s for the men in the family and our car person. I just enjoy a good read!

3 Veterans — We just celebrated Veterans Day, which is the day when we honor our veterans for the service they gave to our amazing country. Most people overlook all that the military does and think we can protect ourselves. And they also don’t realize that military men and women do way much more than we think.

Our men and women sacrifice their lives everyday just so we can have a safe country.

Also, our Marine Corps celebrated its 250th anniversary last week. Thanks to them and all the military for what they do for us.
