During the street renaming ceremony, Walsh spoke about his Wichita memories. One memory he has is of his mother prodding him to learn the oboe, which he later abandoned for the guitar.
Walsh joked, “I’d like to dedicate this to my dearly departed mother and ask her, all the way up there, wherever she is, ‘Ma, how many oboe players can you think of with a street named after them?’”
The street was renamed in honor of his 9th annual VetsAid concert taking place on Saturday.(KWCH)
VetsAid takes place Saturday at 6 p.m. Walsh, along with other artists, will be performing at the concert.
