The face of Georgia’s 2028 recruiting class is now on board — and it’s in the form of the highest-ranked player in the country.
IMG Academy (Fla.) quarterback Jayden Wade has been the No. 1-ranked player in the early 2028 rankings by every service, including 247Sports. He’s been the Bulldogs’ top recruit at any position for that cycle, the player Georgia has been hoping to make its face of the sophomore recruiting class. The Bulldogs have now seen the rewards from that early emphasis of recruiting Wade.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback committed to Georgia on Sunday over other top programs such as Oregon, Texas and Ohio State, he told Dawgs247.
“Georgia is a great place the message is they can develop me, and I’ll be able to compete every year for a championship,” Wade told Dawgs247.
Georgia pinpointed Wade as the priority option in the 2028 class a while ago. The Bulldogs offered the IMG Academy starting quarterback prior to the start of his freshman year. He’s been a regular camper and game visitor in Athens through the years, including for multiple games so far this season.
Wade particularly impressed Georgia coaches in the spring when he visited for a practice and showcased his Xs-and-Os knowledge during board work with Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and other offensive coaches.
Bobo has been the driving force behind landing Wade as early in the process as it has.
“I love the Georgia environment and the staff,” he said.
With Georgia poised to sign 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis in the 2026 class, the Bulldogs saw more use out of prioritizing its No. 1 quarterback target in the 2028 class, rather than the 2027 class, where Georgia will likely have to go down the board a little bit to find its signal-caller.
That gave Bobo & Co. a timeline advantage to get ahead in Wade’s recruitment, which is clearly did.
Georgia had another piece playing in its favor.
Wade’s high school teammate at IMG Academy and close friend from his youth football days in California is Georgia 2026 safety commit Zech Fort. There’s no denying Fort helped the Bulldogs’ cause.
“Zech Fort, one of my childhood friends is going there, and I just feel great energy at the program,” Wade said.
Wade becomes Georgia’s second commitment in the 2028 class, joining in-state tight end commit Asa Wall. Those two commitments would give Georgia the No. 2 national ranking in the 2028 class behind only Ohio State.
