KERRVILLE, Texas – Major damage is being reported along the Guadalupe River in Kerrville after deadly flooding struck the area on the Fourth of July.

At Comfort, the Guadalupe River reached a current level of 29.86 feet after rising 22 feet in just 30 minutes between 9-9:30 a.m. Meanwhile, at Kerrville, the river rose 21.6 feet in one hour, from 3:45 a.m. to 4:45 a.m., with the current level now at 11.64 feet, showing the rapid and severe flooding impacting the area.

Homes near the river have been inundated with water, some swept off their foundations, while others remain surrounded by debris and mud. Residents are trying to save what is left.

Vehicles have also been severely impacted—many were submerged, displaced, or destroyed by the force of the floodwaters. Streets near the river are littered with debris, and emergency crews continue to conduct rescues and assess damage.

The Fourth of July holiday, typically marked by celebration, has instead turned into a disaster response effort as the community begins to reckon with the widespread destruction.
