The recent Final Destination film featured a building that rivals San Antonio’s Tower of the Americas, but it might be our highways that deserve a spot in the franchise. At this point, if you live in the 210, you already know there will be times when something on the highway makes you do a double-take — but the latest viral moment spotted by a San Antonio driver gives new meaning to the traveling foul in basketball.

A TikTok posted on November 15 by @adamcollars was viewed more than 180,000 times. In it, a white pickup truck totes around a basketball hoop sticking out conspicuously from the bed. As for where in San Antonio it was spotted, landmarks shown in the video place it around the Loop 410 access road near Ingram Road on the Westside. And the method used to secure the hoop to the car is, well, questionable, as it’s hard to see how it was tied down.

“Never surprised by what I see on the roads here but always horrified,” one commenter wrote. Another called it “classic San Antonio,” but one commenter said, “San Antonio drivers don’t believe in properly securing dangerous objects I’m convinced.”

One local simply wrote, “puro.” Enough said.

These sightings are a pretty regular occurrence in the Alamo City. A video from back in 2023, posted on November 16, shows a trampoline practically playing limbo with the traffic lights as it crosses Alamo Ranch Parkway on the Far Westside. And a viral moment from last November saw a mattress soaring mid-air above Loop 410 near Vance Jackson Road.

A Reddit user at the time of the mattress debacle put it aptly: “It’s not San Antonio if you’re not dodging full living room sets and upholstered antiques going 75 mph.” Apparently, that statement now includes anything you might have in your backyard.
