PHOENIX — Two dogs died after a house fire broke out in west Phoenix on Monday morning, authorities said.

First responders with Phoenix, Glendale and Avondale responded to reports of a house fire near 105th Avenue and Camelback Road around 11:45 a.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department. Smoke was billowing from the attic.

While tackling the blaze, firefighters searched the home for occupants and discovered that two residents escaped before crews arrived.

Those two people have been displaced.

Although two dogs died in the fire, firefighters were able to rescue one dog who had no issues or injuries.

The city’s Community Assistance Program responded to the scene to help the displaced residents.

There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
