Lammens recently became United’s first-choice goalkeeper, keeping a clean sheet in his first appearance with the Red Devils, recording a 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

Now, in his first appearance for Belgium, Lammens has kept another clean sheet – and it stands him in good stead to earn a spot in Rudi Garcia’s World Cup squad next summer.

It was a night to remember for Lammens.

Liechtenstein went into the game after failing to score in any of their previous qualifiers, and they were unable to find a way past Lammens despite having one shot on target.

That meant it was a quiet night for Lammens, who completed 89% of his passes.

Lammens touched the ball 12 times and made five recoveries.

Although it was a memorable night for Lammens as he made his Belgium debut, the 23-year-old knows that bigger challenges await when he next represents United and his country.
