A first-look at the schedule for the first Paralympic Games ever in Los Angeles was released Wednesday, 1,000 days from the 2028 competition’s Opening Ceremony.

The first of 294 competition sessions will begin two days before the Aug. 15, 2028 Paralympic Opening Ceremony with Wheelchair Rugby on Day -2 and Boccia on Day -1. The Opening Ceremony, considered Day 0, is scheduled for 5 p.m. California time at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Day 1 kicks off with five medal events — Para Athletics, Wheelchair Fencing, Shooting Para Sport, Para Equestrian and Para Cycling Track. Day 9 features the debut of Para Climbing, which will unfold over four days of competition.

The final weekend, Days 10-12, will be packed with finals and medal ceremonies in 17 sports. Finals on Day 12 include Blind Football (Soccer), Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Climbing, Para Powerlifting, Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball.

Twenty-three sports will be part of the Paralympic Games.

The Closing Ceremony is set for 6 p.m. California time Aug. 27 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Olympics will return to Los Angeles for an historic third time in 2028, but this will be the city’s first time as host of the Paralympic Games. The LA 2028 Olympics Opening Ceremony is July 14, 2028 with competition through July 30, 2028.
