The U.S. men’s national team broke up for the next four months with things in as good a position as anyone could have pictured when they reported to camp at the start of last week.

A pair of wins, 2-1 over Paraguay and a statement 5-1 victory over Uruguay, underpinned a camp in which concerns over star players missing melted into excitement over the USMNT finding a level of play that seemed out of reach just a short time ago.

There’s still four friendlies left before the World Cup starts on June 12 in Los Angeles, but the mood around the national team is as optimistic as could be right now.
