Tropical Depression 3 forms off Jacksonville’s coast, expected to impact South Carolina

  • July 4, 2025

What did the hurricane hunter find?

.

Jacksonville, Fla. – Friday, the swirl of clouds became much more organized 100 miles off the Jacksonville coastline. A tropical depression developed and is headed away from Jacksonville with no impacts to our area.

No description found

Hurricane hunters found 30 mph winds, but the circulation was very broad. Thunderstorms are displaced from the center of the tighter low west of the thunderstorms, which is preventing the system from strengthening.

Hurricane hunter recon Friday evening.

Even if it does become a tropical storm, overnight or Saturday, it will have no impact on Jacksonville or coastal Georgia. The Carolinas will get a soaking of 2-4 inches Saturday night and Sunday.

It will be ashore Sunday with the potential for 40 mph gusts and higher along the Outer Banks.

Tropical storm wind forecast in yellow.

Locally, our winds will pick up 15-20 mph from the NE Saturday before lightening up Sunday.

The low actually brings us a lower chance 30% of rain Saturday.
