A man died early Thursday when he was hit by a trolley near a station in the Palm City neighborhood, authorities said.
The collision was reported shortly after 4 a.m. near the Palm Avenue Trolley Station. Officers were told the man was sitting on the tracks when he was struck, said police Officer David O’Brien.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, died before he could be taken to a hospital. His name was not released.
According to Metropolitan Transit System officials, trolley service was delayed between 15 and 20 minutes between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. while trolleys operated on a single track near the incident.
No other information was immediately released.
