SAN ANTONIO – A suspect has been arrested after allegedly fatally shooting a former tenant in a dispute during an apartment walk-through.

According to an arrest report from the San Antonio Police Department, 37-year-old Joshua A. Ford was arrested and charged on Nov. 19 with murder relating to the deadly shooting.

In December of 2022, police officers were called to the scene of a shooting in progress at a home owned by Ford, where the victim, identified as Michael Obryan Martin, had been living as a tenant.

Police said that Martin had been living at the location for about a year, but Ford claimed that he had not received a rent payment for months, prompting Martin’s eviction.

About a month after having moved out, Ford contacted Martin by telephone and had instructed him to go to the residence and leave the key.

The suspect and the witness had arrived at the home to perform a walk-through inspection when Martin arrived at the home unexpectedly. Upon arriving, Ford and Martin started arguing.

During this altercation, Ford and Martin made their way through the home, arguing, eventually ending up in the utility room.

Ford told detectives that Martin had reached towards his body, as if he were going to pull a weapon. Ford told detectives he felt threatened and, in response, pulled out his firearm and fired at Martin, striking him twice.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene. Ford would be arrested on Nov. 19, 2025, now charged with Martin’s murder.
