The largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, “Nahdlatul Ulama,” has demanded its chairman resign after he invited an American researcher who supported Israel during the Gaza war to an internal event. Reuters news agency reported this based on a protocol document it obtained. The leadership of the organization, which is also the world’s largest Islamic organization with 100 million members, gave Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf three days to submit his resignation or be fired. Staquf has served as chairman of the organization since 2021.
