  • November 22, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix police announced on Friday that they arrested the last person they were looking for in connection with the murder of a teen boy last month.

Officers say they arrested 20-year-old Charles Stokes, Jr. on Thursday. He was booked into jail on first-degree murder and armed robbery charges.

Three teenagers were already arrested and are being charged as adults in the death of 16-year-old Trey Bomelyn on Oct. 2.

According to police, Anthony Coleman, Syncere Jack, Jacari West and Stokes were involved in an armed robbery of a group of kids near 37th Street and Roeser Road.

Court documents said Bomelyn was playing a high school game called “Assassins” with water guns with two other teens, and three people walked up to them.

They tried to steal from the group. The suspects drove off, and police said Coleman opened fire on the victims.

Bomelyn died on the way to the hospital. Police said they found the second victim shot at the scene, and the third teen, who was shot, was dropped off at the hospital. The other two should survive.

The other three suspects are under 18 but are being charged in adult court.
