A New York man had 33 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle when state police stopped him for driving too close to the car in front of him, according to a criminal complaint.

In addition to the marijuana, Weng Lin, 37, also had 700 packs of THC vapes, 400 packs of THC gummies, 100 packs of THC edibles and a small amount of marijuana for personal use.

He faces a felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

State police saw a Honda Accord with a New York registration traveling Nov. 18 on Interstate 380 near Exit 13 at about 2 p.m. The driver of the vehicle covered his face with his left arm as he passed police.

Trooper James Sohns caught up to the driver, later identified as Lin, as he traveled on Interstate 81. The trooper saw Lin cut off a tractor-trailer. Lin also followed the vehicle in front of him closely, the trooper said.

Sohns followed Lin for about 5 miles before he stopped him on Interstate 81 north in South Abington Twp. He advised Lin why he was being stopped and asked to search the vehicle. Lin denied the request.

A K9 officer alerted troopers to possible drugs in the vehicle. Troopers obtained a search warrant and had the vehicle towed.

A search yielded 33 1-pound vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana in the trunk and others drugs.

In addition to possession with intent to deliver, Lin is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 4 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
