PHOENIX — Two people are dead and another is injured after a fiery car crash in south Phoenix early Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 1:40 a.m. two cars collided at the intersection of Central Avenue and Baseline Road.

Police said that as a result of the crash, one of the cars was engulfed in flames.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze.

Police said that two people were killed and a third was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation into the fatal south Phoenix crash is ongoing.
