SAN ANTONIO — A local organization is making sure every family has a turkey on the table just in time for Thanksgiving.
Cesar E. Chavez Legacy and Educational Foundation hosted its 16th annual Jaime P. Martinez Thanksgiving in the Barrio on the city’s West Side.
When they first started this they could only give away 10 turkeys, but over the years they are now able to provide more than a thousand birds.
Founder Jaime Martinez passed away eight years ago, but his son says he sees his dad’s vision live on through this event.
He also encouraged everyone to support local non-profits, because without the community events like this can’t happen.
