In the role of Grinch this season, it’s … Mother Nature.

(I hope she’s not reading this.)

Fort Worth’s annual holiday kickoff will be delayed by a week this year because of a Harold Taft Memorial Downpour forecast for Sunday.

The GM Financial Parade of Lights has been rescheduled for Nov. 30. They’ll kick it off at 6 p.m.

Safety first, plus no one wants to sit out in the rain even to see Santa Claus.

The parade, marking its 43rd year, transforms downtown Fort Worth into a mile-and-a-half corridor of glowing floats, marching bands, antique cars, and, of course, St. Nick.

Since its debut in 1983, the parade has grown into one of the largest illuminated holiday parades in the country. More than 100 entries will bring this year’s theme, “Sparkle, Dazzle, Shine!” to life with new designs, brighter lights, and interactive elements.

Families are encouraged to stay for the finale, when Santa and Mrs. Claus appear on a brand-new float designed to close the night with a bang.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Chris Cassidy, a retired Navy SEAL and former NASA astronaut who now leads the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.

Reserved “Street Seats” are available starting at $15.75 for children and $19.50 for adults, providing premium views along the 1.59-mile route. General admission remains free for those who prefer to enjoy the parade from the curb.

Tickets purchased for the original Nov. 23 date will be valid for the rescheduled event. Attendees unable to attend on Nov. 30 can request a refund via the “Contact eTix” link in their confirmation email.

May you all enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
