The Valley’s Janet Caperna has left the U.S. and has made her social media accounts private following intense social media backlash from viewers, including a slew of death threats.
The Bravo star, 35, left her home in Los Angeles and went to Switzerland this week alongside her husband, Jason Caperna, and their 18-month-old son Cameron as a result of the abuse.
While on the way to Europe, Janet locked her Instagram account after being bombarded with hateful messages.
In a screenshots shared with the Daily Mail, one troll attacked Caperna and her family in a series of abusive texts.
“I hope you rot like you deserve,” wrote one person. “I hope your child grows up absolutely hating you.”
“I know where you live. I’ve seen where your son goes when you’re not with him,” wrote another.
Caperna said she is sharing the abuse so others know just how bad the situation has gotten for her family as well as other reality tv stars.
“I’m sick of threats and slurs being normalized because ‘we signed up for this when we joined reality TV,'” she said.
“That’s sick and not normal and I’m not ever going to pretend it’s normal or acceptable to message strangers threats and slurs.” Janet added.
“It’s sad to me that people go this far, it’s definitely the worst part about this ‘job,'” she continued. “I’m learning how to put boundaries on social media in place and learning as I go. I support healthy dialogue around reality TV and think some of the best conversations about modern culture stem from shows like ours.”
