Family torn apart after deadly road rage shooting in south Phoenix

  • November 24, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A family is grieving after a deadly road rage shooting killed a father and his 8-year-old daughter in south Phoenix.

Police say 30-year-old Quincy Polk and 8-year-old Envy Cardenas were killed in a shooting Saturday afternoon near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road.

“I ain’t never gonna see my son, I ain’t never gonna see my grandbaby again,” said Joesra Martin, Polk’s mother. “You already killed my son, why did you have to kill my grandbaby too?”

Polk’s fiancé, Alexis Cardenas, and their 5-year-old daughter, Nay’vi Blu Polk, were also shot. They were both taken to the hospital, where family members say Alexis is in a medically induced coma and will need facial reconstruction surgery.

When she briefly woke up, Alexis wrote Envy’s name repeatedly on paper, according to the family.

Nay’vi Blu has a bullet in her leg that cannot be removed, but she has been released from the hospital. The family’s 1-year-old daughter, Alani Polk, was unharmed.

According to Phoenix police, the incident began when Polk and another driver got into a fight while they were pulling out of a Lowe’s parking lot. The two separated, but the other driver returned to his car, grabbed a gun and fired several rounds into the family’s SUV.

The shooter, later identified as 28-year-old Tyrone Dee Chilly, remained at the scene. He was hospitalized for reasons unrelated to the shooting, but has since been released and booked into jail.

He is facing two counts of murder and multiple charges for aggravated assault and endangerment.
