PHOENIX — A family dog died after a fire broke out in a north Phoenix house on Monday, authorities said.

Firefighters who responded to the house near Seventh Avenue and Behrend Drive shortly before noon tried their best to revive the dog, but were unsuccessful, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

However, a few other dogs managed to escape the burning home by fleeing into other neighbors’ yards.

No one was home when firefighters arrived, according to authorities.

The first responders ventilated the roof and secured the solar panels.

The family who lived at the residence has been displaced.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
