In CFBISD, the district operates as one big family that cares for one another, especially during the holiday season. Demonstrating that spirit, the annual Day of Giving at McWhorter Elementary remains one of the district’s most meaningful traditions, celebrating generosity and community support. This event highlights how the district brings families and community members together in a shared mission of giving.
Today, up to 500 families will receive turkeys and meal boxes filled with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and pantry staples to help make Thanksgiving a little brighter. All food items are donated by generous community sponsors, and each box is decorated by a McKamy Elementary student, adding a heartfelt personal touch to every gift.
Volunteers and partners work behind the scenes, loading, sorting, and distributing thousands of food items to ensure every family is served efficiently and respectfully.
The Day of Giving demonstrates CFBISD’s ongoing commitment to supporting the academic, physical, and emotional needs of every child. The event allows families to experience community generosity firsthand while reinforcing the district’s values of kindness, service, and care.

By providing essential holiday meals, the district helps relieve pressure on families and strengthens the bonds within the CFBISD community.
Media representatives are invited to capture visuals and interviews during the distribution. Photographers and videographers may document volunteers loading, sorting, and delivering meals directly into family vehicles. Reporters can also interview both volunteers and families to share stories of gratitude, community involvement, and the positive impact of this annual tradition.
The distribution takes place at 8 a.m. today, Nov. 22nd, at Kathryn S. McWhorter Elementary School, located at 3678 Timberglen Road in Dallas, TX 75287. By combining volunteer efforts, community donations, and student involvement, CFBISD ensures that every family leaving the event receives the resources, support, and care needed to enjoy a brighter and more festive holiday season.
