Five school in Gaston County remain closed to students and employees.
DALLAS, N.C. — Five Gaston County schools and county buildings closed Tuesday after a water main break in Dallas late Monday disrupted service.
Carr Elementary School, W.C. Friday Middle School, North Gaston High School, Gaston Early College High School and Gaston Early College of Medical Sciences are closed to students and employees. Employees may work remotely Tuesday, with principals providing specific instructions.
The water main issue also forced closures of the Gaston County Public Library Dallas Branch, Citizens Resource Center and Gaston County Museum of Art & History.
The Citizens Resource Center houses Gaston County’s Senior Center and offices for Natural Resources, Cooperative Extension, and Parks, Recreation and Tourism departments.
County officials announced Tuesday the water main has been repaired. Pressure will increase soon, though residents may notice air in their water lines. No boil water advisory has been issued.
