The PGA Tour and LIV Golf split has caused plenty of problems over the last few years but the situation which saw PGA player Wesley Bryan banned from the tour just about summed things up.

Bryan was banned after competing in a LIV sanctioned event earlier in the year.

Bryan took part in the popular ‘LIV Duels’ event, which sees a number of online personalities team up with those players from LIV Golf to put on a spectacle on YouTube.

However, it was a breach of contract from Bryan – according to the PGA Tour – who promptly banned the Bryan Bros star and he’s been left in limbo ever since.

Now, though, Bryan is back finding his feet in professional golf and he’s made a good fist of his return to the competitive game as well.

While banned from the PGA side of things, there’s nothing stopping Wesley Bryan from playing other tours and he’s done just that by making his DP World Tour debut.

Bryan has teed it up at the BMW International Open and while he might have been away from the pro game for a few months, he soon shook off any ring rust.

The American birdied his final two holes in round two to go into the weekend with rounds of 70 and 70 to put him inside the top 20.

With the DP World Tour not having quite the same star power as most PGA Tour events, this represents a big chance for Bryan to get something going in his game again.

Phil Mickelson reacts to Wesley Bryan’s golf return

Of course, one man who has become friendly with Bryan because of the LIV Duels events is Phil Mickelson.

Mickelson is an open critic of the PGA Tour and he is very much in the LIV camp these days as well.

Indeed, over on social media, Mickelson seemed delighted to see Bryan back involved and he sent his own message of congrats to the former PGA Tour winner.

Bryan did end up dropping back outside the top 20 after everyone made it through and is 10 back of the leader right now.

However, for someone who has been out of action in pro golf as he has, it’s quite the effort on a DP World Tour debut to get into the weekend.
