PHILADELPHIA, New York (WWNY) – An apartment building fire in Philadelphia on Tuesday night was a case of arson, according to New York State Police.
They say the blaze broke out around 6:30 p.m. at 72 Main Street in the village.
The call was phoned in by a nearby occupant who heard a smoke alarm and saw smoke coming from a second-floor unit. After the flames were out, investigators determined it had been set.
Now, 32-year-old Brittney Empey of Philadelphia is charged with arson and burglary.
Empey was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or $200,000 secured bond.
