Man found dead in car on Jacksonville’s Westside, foul play suspected: JSO

  • November 27, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man whose body was found inside a car early Wednesday morning on the city’s Westside.

Officers said they believe foul play was involved in the man’s death.

The vehicle was parked in front of a home on Harriet Avenue, located between Ellis Road and Roberts Street on Jacksonville’s Westside, near I-10.

Investigators have not disclosed why they suspect foul play, but two neighbors told News4JAX they heard unusual noises around 3:30 a.m. that woke them up.

Police say patrol officers were dispatched around 7 a.m. after a report of a man’s body discovered in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked on Harriet Avenue.

The victim was in his 50s, and police have not specified the vehicle type.

One neighbor said, “We heard what sounded like a loud car running up and down the road. By the time we walked out to see what was going on, we couldn’t see anything.”

Another neighbor added, “I heard the noise. It woke me up first. Then my dog barked. I got up to check, and you could hear some ruckus going on.”

Both neighbors said the noise stopped for several hours until police arrived after daybreak.

Police have detained several people for questioning, but have not confirmed if one of those detained is the person who called 911.
