SAN ANTONIO – A violent shootout at a West Side park Wednesday afternoon has left a man in critical condition.
The shooting happened just after 2:30 p.m. at West End Park off Menchaca Street and North Hamilton Avenue.

Police said an anonymous caller reported that six to seven men arrived at the park, exchanged gunfire, and then drove off in separate vehicles. When officers arrived, they found numerous shell casings and a blood trail on the grassy area near the playground.
Shortly afterward, investigators were notified that a 33-year-old man had collapsed with a gunshot wound to the abdomen at the front entrance of a nearby hospital. He was transported to a trauma center in critical condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact police.
