SCHERTZ, Texas — A Schertz police officer has been fired amid allegations of sexual assault and oppression, the department said on Thursday.
According to the Schertz Police Department, Officer Alberto De La Torre was fired last week for a “sustained complaint of Truthfulness.”
On Nov. 14, the department began a sexual assault and official oppression report that listed Officer De La Torre as the alleged suspect.
Officer De La Torre was assigned to the department’s K-9 unit and began working for Schertz PD in September 2020.
“Officers’ rights are important, but so is protecting the public we took an oath to serve and preserving the integrity and public trust of our organization,” Police Chief James Lowery said in a statement.
