A 10-year-old girl was rescued from a burning mobile home on Thursday morning in Phoenix, and three people were displaced, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched about 10:45 a.m. to reports of a mobile home fire near 29th Avenue and Van Buren Street, according to an email from Capt. DJ Lee, a Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson.
Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames and starting to spread to a neighboring unit, but they contained the fire and prevented further damage.
Before firefighters arrived, a bystander pulled the girl from the burning home, Lee said in the email.
Juan David Solano CerĂ³n, who works at Agencia Llantera, a tire shop across the street, said he ran over after hearing two women screaming outside the trailer.
He found the girl unconscious on the floor near the mobile home’s entrance and carried her out. The door was unlocked, he said.
Fire crews evaluated the child for smoke inhalation at the scene before she was taken to a hospital for further care. A fire department spokesperson said she was taken in stable condition.
Three residents were displaced, officials said. The Phoenix Fire Department’s Community Assistance Program was helping the family with emergency needs.
No firefighters were injured, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
