JSO investigates apparent murder-suicide on Jacksonville’s Northside

  • July 5, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred early Saturday morning on the city’s Northside.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the scene and found two adults dead.

According to JSO, a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, while a woman was found with a stab wound to the neck.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.

JSO homicide and crime scene detectives are leading the investigation, working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.

Investigators say the victims had been in a relationship for two years, and multiple suicide notes were left by the male victim. Preliminary findings indicate he stabbed the woman before taking his own life.

Anyone with information is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500, email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org, or call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
