For more than five decades, Stanley Marks has called Paradise Valley home. At 86, he may be the oldest judge in Arizona, but he’s also one of the town’s most dedicated volunteers.
The longtime attorney says he first agreed to serve on the municipal bench “to give back to the town.” Five years later, he still sees the work as a privilege.
Marks is one of several attorneys who give their time to run Paradise Valley’s all-volunteer municipal court, an uncommon system in Arizona where most jurisdictions require paid and full-time judges.
