Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Big Island during the week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 5.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of East Lanikaula Street and East Puainako Street, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Dec. 2 to Dec. 3 for maintainance striping through the intersection.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 65 and 67, in the vicinity of Kaalualu Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for cutting grass.

OCEAN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 70 to 83, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

PAHALA TO NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 50 and 60, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 96 and 97, in the vicinity of Kaohe Road and Haleili Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for tree trimming and mowing.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 27 and 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for Hawaiian Electric to install new power line poles.

HIGHWAY 19

HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in the northbound direction near mile post 15.3, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, 24/7 closure beginning at 6 a.m. Dec. 3 through Dec. 5, for repairs on the foundation of the Hakalau Stream Bridge. Details can be found here.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 21 and 25, in the vicinity of Kaiuiki Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for shoulder work.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 56.5 to 56.7, and 25, in the vicinity of Pukalani Road and Lindsey Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for installing new traffic signals.

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts .1 and 1.1, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and Keaʻau Pāhoa Bypass Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for shoulder work.

HIGHWAY 190

SOUTH KOHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for adjustments to road surface.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for cutting grass and shoulder work.

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 for installing new traffic signals.

HIGHWAY 2000

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 29 to Oct. 3 for painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
