On a new list of the 50 best steakhouses in North America, two Dallas restaurants were recognized.
The list, compiled by Robb Report, ranked Al Biernat’s at 43rd and Nuri Steakhouse at 39th.
Nuri Steakhouse, owned by Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim, is notably the restaurant that cost $20 million to build. Al Biernat’s, which was opened by the late Al Biernat in 1998, is a popular spot for celebrity sightings.

Representing Texas high on the list is Jeffrey’s in Austin, which took third place. Only one other Texas restaurant was included — Pappas Bros. in Houston. New York came out on top with 20 of the 50 restaurants on the list.
The recognition for top steakhouse, though, went to Asador Bastian, a Basque-inspired restaurant in Chicago. Chicago has four other restaurants on the list.
Robb Report’s steakhouse list is compiled by 21 anonymous inspectors across five continents who score them using a series of nine criteria including quality of meat, selection of cuts, staff’s expertise in beef, the wine program and design.
