Today’s Big Stories
1. Texas families, ACLU sue to keep Ten Commandments out of classrooms
Eighteen families in Texas have joined with the ACLU to sue a local school district to stop the mandatory display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms.
The San Antonio suburb of Schertz, Texas, is home to the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City School District. The families suing come from 16 different school districts and various religious backgrounds, which is important to the case, according to the ACLU.
2. Austin ISD asks Waymo to stop service during drop-off and pickup hours
Austin ISD is asking Waymo to keep its self-driving vehicles off the roads during pick up and drop-off times. This comes after the district said it has caught Waymo illegally passing its school buses at least 19 times this school year.
Video AISD provided to Spectrum News show the Waymo passing stopped school buses. The vehicle appears to slow down or stop, but eventually continues past the stopped buses, some while loading and unloading.
3. Residents of rural South Texas community protest water transfer request
A crowd packed the room during the Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District’s Nov. 21 meeting in Pleasanton. Most were Wilson County residents who are pushing for the district’s board to deny a permit that would allow the area’s water to be pumped, then taken to neighboring Guadalupe County.

Shredded cheese sold in Texas and other states recalled over metal fragment contamination
A recall has been issued for several types of shredded cheese sold in 31 states — including Texas — at stores like H-E-B, Walmart, Target and Aldi.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website, all products involved are under a Class II recall because they “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
