PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Doorbell cameras caught a vandal keying cars as he walked down Conarroe Street in Philadelphia’s Manayunk neighborhood just before 1 a.m. Thursday.
“I can tell you this street fills up, and I’m pretty sure he was walking down and hitting every single car,” Mark Burgis said.
The suspect’s path of destruction appears to have started minutes earlier, further up the street, where another camera recorded him kicking over trash cans and stealing traffic cones.
That camera belongs to Kevin Loughlin, who laughed it off when he thought that’s all the man had done. Then he saw the scratch on his car.
“As I was in the car, my neighbor came by and said, ‘Hey, there’s other cars that got keyed too,'” he recalled.
It happened to Olivia Cooper, too. She saw the reports flood her Ring doorbell neighborhood group.
“It’s just really sad to see that someone is out there and can do that and really has no remorse or feeling towards other people’s property,” she told Action News.
Neighbors we talked to didn’t recognize the man and had no idea why he did this.
“We’re already kinda tight as it is, so we don’t really have time to be repairing vehicles because someone else is upset at the world,” Burgis said.
“We are planning on filing a police report, and hopefully enough reports will get the police to notice, and hopefully we can figure out who did this,” Cooper said.
Philadelphia police in the 5th district confirm they’ve received two reports of vandalism so far, and detectives will be investigating.
