SAN ANTONIO – A 13-year-old accused of fatally shooting his 8-year-old brother has been arrested for allegedly violating the terms of his release.

According to the 436th District Court, the 13-year-old is accused of fatally shooting his brother, 8-year-old Daniel Casares, back on July 25, 2025.

The court says that the 130-year-old allegedly violated the conditions of his release to his grandmother, allegedly staying out past his court-mandated curfew, and evading police with a group of boys he was told not to be around.

Judge Shaw ordered the boy to stay in custody until his next detention hearing on Dec. 18.

According to the police, the teen had been handling a firearm when it fired, tragically striking the 8-year-old in the neck. The teen is facing a charge of manslaughter in connection with his brother’s death.
