NBA player Stephen Jackson’s two stints with the Spurs didn’t last long. He was here from 2001 to 2003, then returned from 2012 to 2013.
During Jackson’s first stay, he picked up an NBA Championship ring. The second time, he acquired this beauty of mansion in the Dominion, which recently hit the market for just under $3.3 million.
Jackson purchased the residence in 2012 but he didn’t offload the property until four years later — a little past his retirement. Since that time, the house has been in the family of the late Larry E. Grothues, founder of San Antonio-based MG Building Materials, a retailer and wholesaler of lumber and other supplies.
Regardless of its star-studded history, this two-story mansion has plenty to marvel at. Spanning nearly 11,000 square feet, it contains eight bedrooms and eight and a half baths, not to mention a “car lover’s dream garage” that houses up to ten vehicles, according to its sales listing.
Towering pillars surround the structure, and a second-story balcony offers views of the Texas Hill Country plus a beautifully terraced backyard with a gazebo and a pool. The home sits on more than two acres.
Inside, marble flooring strikes a dramatic touch, and extravagances such as a theater-style media room, a wine cellar with iron doors, a library and an elevator let the occupant know they’re living like a true champion.
