CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team kicked off its indoor season with a strong showing at the Cougars Alumni Invitational on Friday, December 5, at the Gately Track in Chicago. The Badgers came away with multiple event wins, personal bests and a true freshman’s name etched into the program record book.
In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Tonovila Hicks cruises through the prelims with a time of 8.04 seconds, automatically qualifying for the finals. The Philadelphia native returned in the final to win the event in 7.98, a time that moved him to No. 8 in the UW indoor record book.
Senior Jalen Williams started his 2025 indoor season campaign strong, automatically qualifying for the 60 meter finals to then take fourth in the event with a personal-best time of 6.92. Williams later dominated the 300 meters, winning the event with another personal-best of 33.94.
The Badgers added another event title in the 600 meters, where Zion Ometesa clocked 1:19.89 to take the win.
In the distance events, Nick Gilles placed sixth in the 3000 meters, crossing the line in 8:22.89.
The 4×4 squad of Farraj Al-Amin, Ometesa, Lorenzo Forsmann and Hicks closed out the day’s performances with a win, running a time of 3:32.33.
Up Next: Three Badgers head east to compete at the Boston Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational on Saturday morning, with action beginning at 9:30 a.m..
