Those areas are expected to see between 1 and 3 inches of snow, with an isolated 4 inches possible for the area’s most western counties, said ABC7 Chicago AccuWeather Meteorologist Jaisol Martinez.
Martinez says snow is expected to start falling between midnight and 2 a.m. Sunday and end between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday.
ABC7 meteorologists issued an AccuWeather Alert for Sunday morning, as roads may become slick and snow-covered.
Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications says the highest amounts are expected to occur north of Interstate 80 and encouraged drivers to slow down and use caution.
Temperatures are expected to drop Sunday afternoon, and lake-effect could briefly kick in for Illinois after 9 p.m., Martinez said.
More snow is in the forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
