MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — A decades-old holiday tradition has returned to the Paley Center for Media in Midtown and generations have made PaleyLand a must-do this time of year.

The train display, complete with iconic New York City landmarks, is something to see, along with the original Yule log, which dates back to the ’60s.

“It really brings to life those classic TV specials we all grew up on…Rudolph, Frosty…but it’s magic, five floors of holiday magic,” said Maureen Reidy.

Reidy is president and CEO of The Paley Center for Media.

There, year-round, visitors can meet television, sports and cultural icons and take part in a long list of programs.

And it is all fun and games inside PaleyGX-where the name of the game is gaming and virtual reality.

It’s all a nod to founder and media pioneer Michael S. Paley as the museum celebrates its landmark 50th anniversary.

“We’ve always built upon our storied foundation and embraced all the innovation in the industry, we are this thriving cultural institution where media, sports, gaming and entertainment come together,” Reidy said.

The winter wonderland will be in place through January 4, but there is so much more ahead — programs all rooted in the museum’s mission.

“Next summer we’ll celebrate FIFA World Cup coming and we’ll begin to lay the groundwork for the second phase of our renovation,” Reidy said.

That renovation will involve a museum expansion, state of the art television, recording and podcast studios.
